NVIDIA Denies GeForce RTX 50 Series Laptops Also Hit With Missing ROPs Issue

by Thora.Hansen

It looks like the fear of missing ROPs on NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 50 Series isn’t just isolated to its desktop GPUs. The GPU brand recently told laptop makers preparing to ship out laptops fitted with their GPUs to check if they too have the full suite.

According to the German news outlet, Heise, laptop manufacturers are currently working overtime to ensure that all RTX 50 Series laptop GPUs are tested and displaying their full ROPs before being shipped out to customers. “As we have learned from several notebook manufacturers, they are currently working overtime in the Far East to prevent the drama from escalating into the next act.”

NVIDIA has denied that the problem of missing ROPs on RTX 50 Series laptop GPUs even exists and told The Verge that what they were doing is nothing but standard procedure. “All partners continue to run checks as part of our standard testing procedure,” Ben Berraondo, NVIDIA GeForce global PR director.

That said, both Heise and Hardwareluxx are skeptical, given that some RTX 50 Series laptops will be delivered in April or May this year, instead of the promised March release dates. However, Heise also says that this could be due to NVIDIA having only recently begun distributing the final vBIOS for the nobook GPUs.
