Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 was released back in September of 2024, nearly 13 full years after the first game. But while the reception for the first game was middling, the second game has gotten the kind of success that first could only dream of. Perhaps it’s because of this that Focus Entertainment has announced that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 is already in production.
The official announcement post doesn’t share much in terms of detail beyond development already being underway. Instead, the company, alongside developer Saber Interactive and Games Workshop, the company behind the Warhammer franchises, only say that “more information on Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 will be revealed at a later date”. The latter says on its own website that the game “is likely years away from release”.

For what it’s worth, the joint announcement at least confirms the developer and publisher for the third game being the same as the second. This leaves only the first game as being developed and published by different companies, specifically Relic Entertainment and Relic respectively.
Also, despite not being a live service, game, Space Marine 2 has gotten relatively constant updates for its multiplayer components since its initial launch. As such, the game has fluctuating, but otherwise pretty healthy player numbers. It has also propelled Warhammer 40,000 into the limelight, if the IP wasn’t already in it.
