Samsung May Release A Pair Of Smart Glasses This Year

by Thora.Hansen

Samsung is apparently working on Augmented Reality (AR) smart glasses that could see a release before the year ends. Developed under the code name ‘Haean’, the features and specifications of the glasses are said to be in its final stages of development.

According to South Korean news outlet ETNews, the upcoming glasses will feature a frame that suits “every face shape and structure” to ensure comfortable wear. Additionally, gesture support will apparently be utilised to reduce the number of physical buttons, while retaining its sleek design.

ETNews adds the glasses will be powered by a Qualcomm chip, along with an integrated camera. Most interestingly, rumours are suggesting that the wearable will be offered at an affordable price point.

Meanwhile, XRToday reports that Samsung’s upcoming glasses may focus on AI rather than AR, featuring a custom version of Google’s Gemini LLM as a built-in smart assistant. Leaks suggest this assistant could enhance usability by supporting tasks like QR code-based payments.

It should be noted that Samsung is expected to release its Android XR-powered mixed reality headset, code named Project Moohan, later this year. Provided that this recent rumour is to be believed, there is a chance that the company may introduce the AR glasses around the same time.
