The Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to be revealed next week and its launch could take place sometime in June, according to Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson. He claims that this information was relayed to him by sources during the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2025 last week.
Henderson also claims that the Switch 2 games will be released through Nintendo’s “three-phase strategy”. The initial stage includes first-party games at its launch, the second phase will begin in October with third-party releases, while the final phase will occur during the holidays.
Henderson adds that Nintendo will be holding an exclusive Switch 2 hands-on event next week. which will be attended by “select media and creators”. This could potentially mean that more details regarding the console might be revealed in the upcoming weeks, such as specifics about the console’s hardware, as well as its exact release date and launch price.

The upcoming console is expected to arrive eight years after its predecessor, which debuted all the way back in March 2017. In case you missed it, Nintendo revealed the Switch 2 in January, showcasing its updated design and Joy-Con gimmicks, but kept the console’s release date under wraps. While it is hopeful that it may see a release in June, bear in mind that Henderson’s information is unofficial, and could potentially turn out to be inaccurate.
