vivo Announces Add-On Zoom Lens And Photography Kit For X200 Ultra

by Kris

vivo is following in realme and Xiaomi’s footsteps and releasing an add-on zoom lens for its smartphone, specifically the vivo X200 Ultra. This is in addition to a photography kit, which the company has previously teased. vivo product manager Han Boxiao took to social media to share details about the zoom lens, which is co-engineered with Zeiss.

The lens uses a custom adapter to attach to the X200 Ultra’s photography kit. It goes over the smartphone’s 200MP periscope zoom lens and features a 13-piece glass lens setup to extend the X200 Ultra’s native 3.7x optical zoom. The lens has a f/2.3 aperture with 200mm equivalent focal length with 8.7x optical zoom, with up to 70x hybrid zoom. Meanwhile, the photography kit itself adds a protective case, handgrip, dedicated shutter button, a 2,300mAh battery extension, and a USB-C connector to the upcoming vivo X200 Ultra.

The price for the add-on zoom lens has not been disclosed yet, which is the same case as with the photography kit. However, more details are likely to emerge as the 21 April launch date for the smartphone nears.

As mentioned before, both realme and Xiaomi have come up with their own ideas for an add-on lens. realme showcased an Ultra-tier smartphone with Interchangeable-lens concept at MWC 2025, which uses a 1-inch Sony sensor with 73mm portrait and 234mm telephoto lenses. However, the brand asserted that the device won’t enter mass production anytime soon.

Xiaomi also introduced its Modular Optical System prototype at MWC, which uses a magnetic ring and pin slots to attach a camera lens module to a smartphone. The module’s built-in sensor is a 100MP Light Fusion X Type 4/3 sensor paired with a 35mm f/1.4 lens.
