Chery’s iCAR Set To Debut In Malaysia At MAS 2025

by Kris

Chery is gearing up to introduce a new name to Malaysian roads, the iCAR brand that sits under its international umbrella alongside Jaecoo. However, in Malaysia it will be known as iCAUR.

The iCAR brand is very much related to Jaecoo which is another sub-brand under Chery International. While Jaecoo targets SUV markets abroad, iCAR will concentrate on electric and range-extended electric vehicles (REEV).

The V23 isn’t exactly new, since , it was already introduced in China in April 2024. It’s a rugged-looking electric SUV offered in both rear-wheel (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD).

iCAR made its official debut at this year’s Auto Shanghai, where it unveiled its first global model, the V23. Now, it’s heading to Malaysia for its regional launch at the Malaysia Auto Show (MAS) 2025. Malaysia is just 1 of 100 markets that the brand has planned to enter within the next three years and establish more than 2,000 sales and service centres worldwide.

The RWD model feature a 136 PS (134 hp or 100 kW) motor delivering 180 Nm, with two battery options. One of them is the A 59.93-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) pack offering up to 401 km range (CLTC) while the other is an 81.76-kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery pushing that up to 550 km

The AWD variant however, uses the NMC battery exclusively and also comes with an added front motor with 75PS and 112Nm of torque. Combined output is 211PS and 292Nm, with a maximum range of 501 km. In China, the iCAR V23 is priced between CNY109,800 and CNY149,800(~RM66,000 – ~RM90,000).

There’s also a range-extended electric version of the 03 called the 03T, giving buyers even more flexibility depending on their needs.
