After making its Gemini app accessible to iOS users back in November last year, Google has now taken it up a notch by providing a new update. Now, iPhone users will be able to access the AI chatbot directly from their phone’s lock screen.
Using lock screen widgets, iOS users can now use Google Gemini and its features without even unlocking their phones. The new update offers six widgets on the iPhone lockscreen, including Type prompt, Share image widget to either get more information or create new art, and Talk Live prompt allowing users to discuss any questions and brainstorm.

While the main shortcut still opens the app and keyboard to allow users to start typing a prompt, these Gemini Live shortcuts can be launched directly with a shorter process. The six shortcuts can also be set to appear as corner buttons on the phone’s lock screen, or via Control Center for quick access.
The updated version of the Google Gemini app is now available on the Apple App Store. Besides the features mentioned, the release notes also highlight the ability to share links, images and text directly to Gemini from any app, the availability of Deep Research in Gemini Advanced, and general UI improvements and bug fixes.
