Smartphones are probably not the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the Taiwanese electronics brand Acer. But the company is no stranger to the market, and has considered that it’s worth making a comeback. In fact, the company has a launch scheduled for the end of this month.
Posted on Amazon India is a teaser of such a launch, with the date of 25 March. There’s not much else to gleam from the page, besides the Acer brand logo and the word “Smartphones” immediately after. And in an industry that’s full of leaks, it’s pretty impressive in its own way that nothing is known about what’s going to be unveiled.
As mentioned though, this won’t be the first Acer rodeo into the smartphone industry. Way back when, the company had its Liquid series of smartphones, including an example of a Windows 10 Mobile device. Of course, the industry today is quite different compared to back then, and with that in mind, it’s probably safe to expect the announcement to be pretty AI-heavy.
Beyond pure conjecture though, it remains to be seen what Acer has in store for the smartphone market. It’s also unclear if these phones will be making their way outside of India, and if so, when.
