If you’ve ever wanted your iPhone to look and feel like a classic camera, Fotorgear’s new Retro DMF Photography Kit might be exactly what you need. Designed for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, this multi-part case doesn’t just add a vintage aesthetic, it also introduces functional dials, a shutter button and compatibility with the brand’s range of lenses and filters.
The Retro DMF Kit features a two-piece design, wrapping the phone in a metal-textured frame with a leather back panel. Fotorgear says this not only enhances the retro look but also provides extra protection. The kit comes with two case options: one with control dials, a shutter button and a built-in cold shoe mount, and a second that offers a more minimalistic version that allows access to the Camera Control button.
Despite the case’s bulk, it still works with some MagSafe accessories thanks to an integrated magnetic ring, though it’s unclear whether magnetic charging remains functional when this. Additionally, there’s an optional grip handle for better ergonomics and a separate cold shoe mount for additional accessories. Other add-ons in the package include a 67mm filter adapter and a lanyard.

A key feature of the Retro DMF Kit is its integration with the Fotorgear camera app. Through a Bluetooth connection, users can customise the dials and levers to control exposure compensation, filters, aspect ratios, focus peaking, and more.

The Fotorgear Retro DMF Photography Kit is now available for pre-order via the company’s website, with global shipping. However, it is offered at a very steep price, at US$199 (~RM882), to be exact. That said, the whole kit is still considerably more affordable than Leica’s official LUX grip accessory for iPhones.
