The 2025 Volvo EX90 Is Coming To Malaysia Next Month

by Kris

The wait is almost over—the highly anticipated 2025 Volvo EX90 is making its grand debut in Malaysia on 4 April 2025. Volvo Malaysia confirmed the news on social media, and it’s arriving alongside its plug-in hybrid twin, the XC90. While pricing remains a mystery for now, all eyes are on this next-generation electric SUV.

The EX90 isn’t just another EV—it’s Volvo’s most advanced electric SUV yet. Available in Twin-Motor and Twin-Motor Performance variants, it offers seating for five, six, or seven passengers, depending on the region.

The Twin-Motor version delivers 300kW (402hp) and 770Nm of torque, going from 0-100km/h in just 5.9 seconds. If you want more punch, the Twin-Motor Performance variant cranks it up to 380kW (509hp) and 910Nm of torque, cutting the sprint time to 4.9 seconds. As always with Volvo, the top speed is capped at 180km/h for safety.

Powering this beast is a massive 111kWh battery, giving it an impressive WLTP-rated range of up to 600km on a single charge. Charging is quick and easy, with 11kW AC charging taking around 10 hours for a full charge, while 250kW DC fast charging juices it from 10-80% in just 30 minutes.

Bigger and bolder than the XC90, the EX90 measures 5,037mm long and 1,964mm wide, with a 2,985mm wheelbase. Storage is plentiful, with 310 litres of boot space when all seats are up, expanding to 655 litres with the third row folded and a whopping 1,915 litres with both rear rows down. Need more space? There’s an 80-litre frunk up front. The third-row seats are power-operated, while the second row is manually adjustable.

On the outside, the EX90 is a sleek, futuristic evolution of Volvo’s signature design, looking like an XL version of the EX30. It features Thor’s hammer DRLs and high-definition pixel headlights that pack 1.3 million pixels, dynamically adjusting their brightness for optimal visibility.

Inside, the tech-forward cabin boasts a 14.5-inch tablet-style infotainment screen with Google built-in, a 9-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 13.2-inch head-up display. Audiophiles will love the 25-speaker, 1610W Bowers & Wilkins sound system, which includes a subwoofer and even headrest speakers for the front seats.

Safety remains Volvo’s top priority, and the EX90 doesn’t disappoint. It’s equipped with a cutting-edge LIDAR sensor mounted on the roof, working alongside cameras and radars to detect objects up to 250 metres ahead—even in complete darkness.
