Prasarana Provides Free Transportation Services For Gas Explosion Victims

by Thora.Hansen

In the wake of the devastating gas pipeline explosion in Putra Heights, numerous government and private agencies have come together to assist affected families. Among the latest to join the relief efforts is Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana), which has announced an initiative to provide free transportation services to victims in need.

Under its Prasarana Prihatin program, the company is deploying six vans to operate as a door-to-door intermediary service, helping victims travel between their temporary shelters and their homes. This service aims to facilitate the movement of affected individuals so they can retrieve essential items and personal documents from their residences while they are housed at the Temporary Settlement Centre (PPS).

To ensure the smooth execution of this initiative, Prasarana is working with the Petaling District and Land Office to manage the mobility needs of victims effectively. The Rapid KL On-Demand van facility will be utilized for this service, which officially begins operation on 3 April and will continue until the situation stabilises for the affected families.

The vans will operate from the Putra Heights Mosque Hall PPS to various residential areas, including Putra Heights, Kampung Puchong Tengah, and Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru. Additionally, traffic control officers and auxiliary police will be stationed at key locations to ensure the service runs efficiently and safely.

In addition to Prasarana’s efforts, Chery Malaysia has also stepped forward by offering a vehicle loan program. Through this initiative, 50 cars will be temporarily provided to affected families, though which vehicles were being loaned out was not specified.
