Infinix will be launching its upcoming Note 50s 5G Plus on 18 April in India. The phone will reportedly retain the same design as the brand’s recently unveiled Note 50x 5G, except for one new detail- the new model will smell. Yes, smell.
With what Infinix refers to as an “Energizing Scent-Tech”, the phone will have a Microencapsulation Technology, which traps frag rance molecules inside tiny capsules. The device will reportedly have a vegan leather back in which the capsules are infused into, and will gradually release a subtle scent through its rear panel.

However it is not a permanent feature, as it is said to last around six months depending on the phone’s usage and environment conditions such as temperature and humidity. While Infinix is set to offer the phone in three colours, the scent technology will only be offered in the Marine Drift Blue version.
The reasoning behind this new feature is relatively straightforward, as explained by Infinix India CEO Anish Kapoor: “If we have something that smells good in our hand, then why not”. According to Kapoor, the phone might cost under INR20,000 (~RM1,041). No plans have been confirmed thus far as to whether the phone will see a release outside of India.
