Kia Unveils Their First Electric Sedan: The 2026 EV4

by Kris

Kia is expanding its all-electric lineup in a big way with the reveal of the 2026 EV4; the brand’s first global electric sedan which was unveiled at the New York International Auto Show. According to Kia, this car is for the EV buyers “who have yet to find the right fit.”

Well, if that is true let’s see what the Kia EV4 has to offer. This EV is built on the automaker’s 400V E-GMP platform and it is a front-wheel drive sedan. Visually, one can say that the EV4 stands out.

The design blends a sleek fastback profile with a bold front end, marked by vertical headlamps and Kia’s now-signature Star Map lighting. Depending on the trim, it rides on 17- or 19-inch wheels. At the rear, clean lines, vertical taillights, and a dual spoiler ties everything for a neat look.

Inside, it’s all about minimalism and smart use of space. The comes with a modern layout built around a free-floating digital interface and a two-spoke steering wheel. A nearly 30-inch display stretches across the dashboard, combining dual 12.3-inch screens with a dedicated 5-inch climate control display. Kia’s updated infotainment system supports OTA updates and allows for customisable themes.

Under the floor, the EV4 comes with two battery options: a 58.3 kWh pack on the base “Light” trim or a long-range 81.4 kWh option in the “Wind” and “GT-Line” models. Both versions use a 150 kW front-mounted motor, with Kia estimating ranges of 378 km (235 miles) for the Light and up to 531 km (330 miles) for the long-range models. Fast charging is quick and painless, with a 10-80% top-up taking just under 30 minutes.

Driving dynamics get a boost thanks to MacPherson struts up front and a multi-link rear suspension. Regenerative braking is enhanced through Kia’s new i-Pedal 3.0 system, which even works in reverse and saves your preferred setting for the next drive.

As expected, tech is everywhere. From Digital Key 2.0 access via smartphone to a V2L (vehicle-to-load) feature that powers your gadgets or even small appliances, the EV4 is designed for modern lifestyles. It also includes a suite of advanced driver-assistance systems like Highway Driving Assist, Lane Following Assist and Smart Parking Assist, backed by sensors that detect your hands on the wheel for safety compliance.

The EV is set to arrive in the U.S market early 2026 and maybe then we will come to know if the Kia EV4 is really the right fit for EV buyers. No word on an international release, however.
