High Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Order Volume Causes Delivery Delay

by Thora.Hansen

Before the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, Bloomberg cited analysts who predict that, no matter what sort of price tag it gets, boatloads of it will be sold, “almost regardless of price”. It turns out to be more than accurate, to the point of pre-orders not guaranteeing that you’d get the thing on release day.

In an update to the “How to buy” page on its US site, Nintendo now says that “delivery by 5 June is not guaranteed” due to the “very high demand” of the Switch 2. In fact, those who registered their interest via the official site may only get their purchase invitation email after the system launches.

Ironically, the company also says that “if you wish to increase your opportunity of obtaining a Nintendo Switch 2 system at launch, please visit our participating retail partners”. According to some such partners, even their online pre-orders have sold out, with those still interested having to visit their local physical stores instead.

Of course, this doesn’t apply directly to us, since we don’t even have a concrete release date for our Nintendo Switch 2 yet, to say nothing about pre-orders or its eventual price locally. But if nothing else, this can be taken as a sign of what we can expect ourselves in the coming months.
