Budget 2026: Government To Distribute RM100 SARA Cash Aid In February

by Thora.Hansen

Starting 31 August until 31 December of this year, Malaysian citizens of 18 years or older are eligible for RM100 in cash aid as part of the SARA program. During the tabling of Budget 2026, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has said that the government will do the same come February next year.

More specifically, the RM100 Sara cash aid will be distributed starting the middle of said month. That being said, no end date was announced just yet. As before, you’ll be eligible as long as you meet the aforementioned two simple criteria. Anwar reiterates that the RM100 SARA cash aid not used this time around will be channelled to future initiatives. This may also apply to the cash aid program that’s coming next year.

The timing of the distribution will just about coincide with the Lunar New Year celebrations of 2026, which falls on the second half of the month. This will also be about a month ahead of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations, happening in mid-March.

he also says that a total of RM15 billion is being allocated for the SARA program of 2026. This was made possible thanks to saving from targeted subsidies such as RON95 petrol and diesel, the former referring to the BUDI95 rollout.
