Alongside the P-Circle application, Perodua also unveiled its new P-GO Smart Watch and its P-Charge Mobility (a mobile charging station for EVs). Both of these products are connected to the national automaker’s super app.
P-GO Smart Watch
Perodua’s first-party smartwatch is not unlike any other smartwatch in the market, as it comes with features such as health scanning, sleep recording, music control and much more. However, what makes it unique from the others that it can also act as a key for Perodua vehicles that support keyless entry.
While wearing this watch, users can use the P-Vehicle feature that allows users to control their vehicle. It can unlock and lock their cars, open and close the boot, and even start their vehicle. In essence, Perodua users would not need to bring their key to access and operate their cars, as long as they are wearing the P-GO Smartwatch.
As of now, the vehicle control feature can only be used to access Perodua models including the Myvi, Ativa, Alza and Axia. Interestingly, the automaker says expansion to other car brands are also coming as a future update.
Just like the P-Circle app, the software and design of the watch were made by local talents. However, according to Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad, some of the hardware had to be imported from other countries. He also added that through this process, Perodua has asked these overseas companies to invest in the smartwatch industry locally.
In terms of specifications, the P-GO Smart Watch operates on the 3RQOS proprietary system. On a full charge, the watch can last up to 12 days under normal usage, while for heavy usage it can last up to six days.
Zainal also added that the model previewed is the larger variant, and Perodua will eventually introduce a smaller version of the P-GO soon. This watch will be available in the P-Circle marketplace at the end of the year, with a price tag of RM950.
P-Charge Mobility
The P-Charge Mobility is a mobile charging concept that was also unveiled by Perodua today. According to Zainal, there are two working models which can be accessed through the app via the P-Mobile Charger feature.
These are DC chargers with a capacity of 180kW and an output of 60kWh. On a full charge, it is claimed that the charger can replenish up to three electric vehicles from 0% to 100%.
However, Perodua notes that it is trying to solve two problems with the charger: the first being autonomy, while the second is to solve is how to transport the unit from one location to another. Zainal also said that the current two chargers can be placed in shopping malls for people to use as they are already in the working phase. He also mulled the possibility of renting these mobile chargers for public events.
