Selangor Government Launches Its All-In-One App Nine

by Kris

The Selangor government has just released its own all-in-one app called Nine. This comprehensive “super app” is said to combine various essential services and smart features that Selangor residents need for a more “efficient lifestyle”.

With the app, users can pay for parking, access municipal and local government services, and use it as their main e-wallet. At a glance, we found that the app is heavily dependent on the e-wallet to the point that users need to activate the function before proceeding with the app’s main features.

To activate the e-wallet, users need to provide their phone number, address, full name, ID number, nationality, date of birth, and email address. Once all those details have been keyed in, users will receive an OTP that will fully activate the e-wallet, which will, in turn, allow them to use the app normally.

In terms of functionality, the official Nine website states that the app grants users quick access to various services such as bill payments, performing remittances, using it for train and bus ticketing, and more. The website also details that many more features will be coming to the app, such as single-sign-on specifically for government services, “consolidated access”, and “enhanced microservices”.

Based on the sign-up process (specifically the portion where users enter their nationality), the app is open to Malaysian and non-Malaysian citizens, perhaps giving Selangor-based foreigners a chance to navigate the state more comfortably. For those interested in the Nine app, it is available to download now through the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
