Deepavali 50% Toll Discount From 18 To 19 October 2025

by Thora.Hansen

PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) has confirmed that the 50% toll discount will be applicable from 18 October to 19 October 2025. The toll discount, in conjunction with the upcoming Deepavali celebration, was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim last week as part of the Budget 2025 tabling.

According to the highway concessionaire, the discount applies to all highways, except for toll plazas located at the country’s border entry points, namely the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar Toll Plaza and Tanjung Kupang Toll Plaza (on the Malaysia–Singapore Second Link Highway – Linkedua). The discount is available only for Class 1 vehicles, with the exception of the Penang Bridge, where it will also apply to Class 2 vehicles.

PLUS further stated that it anticipates an increase in traffic volume to 2.2 million vehicles across its highway network during the festive period. The heaviest traffic is expected on 17, 18, and 21 October 2025. To ease congestion, the highway operator will introduce a digital travel schedule via MyPLUS-TTA, encouraging highway users to plan their journeys in advance, especially those travelling on the PLUS Highway and the East Coast Expressway Phase 2 (LPT2).

Additionally, to ensure smoother traffic flow, PLUS will activate Smart Lane operations at 28 locations along its highways. These can be identified through a green flashing light and notification signboards installed at specific locations. There will be three Smart Lanes in the Northern Region, 17 in the Central Region and eight in Southern region.

The Smart Lanes will be accessible only to light, private, and passenger vehicles, with a speed limit of 60 km/h. Meanwhile, the concessionaire has also confirmed that there will be no lane closures for maintenance works on the PLUS Highway and the East Coast Expressway Phase 2 (LPT2) during this period.

Other than that, PLUS stated that all public facilities such as restrooms, prayer rooms, and petrol stations at rest areas are open 24 hours a day. The company will also be Deploying more than 300 RELA staff at selected R&R, lay-by and toll plazas for traffic management.
