KL Car-Free Morning Cancelled Due To ASEAN Summit

by Thora.Hansen

The KL Car-Free Morning committee has released an announcement stating the cancellation of the Car Free Morning event on 26 October. This cancellation was made in conjunction with the extensive road closures due to the 47th ASEAN Summit 2025.

As reported before, Kuala Lumpur will be under a total lockdown during the event and the road closures will take place from 26 to 28 October. According the Kuala Lumpur Command and Control Centre (KLC3), these closures will be carried out intermittently, each lasting between 30 and 45 minutes, to ensure the smooth movement of high-level delegation convoys throughout the three-day summit.

Among the roads that will be affected are Jalan Ampang, Persiaran KLCC, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Sultan Ismail and many more. Additionally, main expressways such as the Maju Expressway (MEX), North–South Expressway (PLUS) and New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) will also face closures.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transport (MOT) has introduced several measures to ensure smooth travel for both the public and summit delegates. These include extended peak hours, more frequent train services, and additional transport options across rail, bus, and on-demand networks in the Klang Valley.

People are advised to plan their travel during the summit to avoid congestion on the roads. Travelling by public transport is also encouraged during this period.
