The Road Transport Department (JPJ) is offering motorists a 50% discount to settle outstanding summonses over a two-month period from 1 November to 30 December 2025. The initiative aims to give vehicle owners a final opportunity to clear their dues before a new payment structure takes effect next year.
JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said the discount covers all types of summonses except those ineligible for compounding, such as cases that require court proceedings. He encouraged the public to take advantage of the offer by making payments at JPJ counters or through available online and digital payment platforms.
“The discount applies to all summonses except for those issued under the Automated Awareness Safety System (AWAS), Investigation Notices (114), and Stamped Summonses or JPJ (P)23 Notices (115),” Aedy Fadly said during a special media conference on Op Gempur held on Sunday. He added that these exclusions have been in effect since early last year and remain unchanged under the current campaign.
The JPJ director-general also confirmed that no discounts will be available for any JPJ or police summonses after 1 January 2026. He said the department will fully transition to a new payment system designed to promote faster settlements and encourage responsible driving behaviour.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced last week that the upcoming structure introduces a tiered rate based on how quickly motorists pay their summonses. Motorists who settle their compounds within 1 to 15 days will receive a 50% reduction, while those who pay between 16 and 30 days will receive a 33% discount. Meanwhile, motorists who pay their summonses within 31 to 60 days will need to pay the full compound rate with no discount applied. Any unpaid summonses after 60 days will result in court proceedings or blacklisting of the vehicle owner.
Loke said the new system ensures fairness by rewarding those who pay their summonses early rather than offering periodic discounts. He explained that one-off discount programmes unfairly penalise motorists who consistently follow the rules and settle their penalties on time.
