The new BYD Atto 3 Ultra has finally arrived in Malaysia, but despite the new name, there aren’t many changes in design or features when compared to the original. However, the most significant update is the major price drop.
The Atto 3 Ultra is priced at RM123,800, a massive RM44,000 reduction from its original price. This adjustment is likely in response to increasing competition in the Malaysian EV market, particularly with the Proton e.Mas 7 making waves.

Along with the price cut, BYD is offering a six-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty and an eight-year/150,000 km drive unit warranty, with the battery covered for up to 160,000 km. To sweeten the deal further, the first 1,000 buyers will receive a RM5,000 rebate, bringing the price down to RM118,800.

Early adopters will also get an eight-year free service package worth RM4,888, bringing total savings to RM9,888. Additional perks include a free AC wallbox charger valued at RM 3,699, a vehicle-to-load (V2L) adapter worth RM 988, and a Type 2 charging cable priced at RM 1,796.
Under the hood, the Atto 3 Ultra retains its 204 PS and 310 Nm single front motor, completing the 0-100 km/h sprint in 7.3 seconds. It runs on a 64.48 kWh Blade lithium iron phosphate battery, delivering a WLTP-rated range of 420 km.

Charging performance is unchanged, supporting 88 kW DC fast charging, which allows the battery to recharge from 10% to 80% in just 40 minutes. AC charging remains capped at 7 kW, requiring 9 hours and 42 minutes for a full charge.
Externally, the Atto 3 Ultra is nearly identical to the previous model, with the only notable change being a fresh design for the 18-inch alloy wheels. Inside, however, the car has undergone a more noticeable transformation, swapping out the blue-and-white colour scheme for an all-black interior.

A surprising update is the lime green piping replacing the previous red, adding a bold contrast. The quirky guitar string-inspired door pockets are now black, better blending into the overall design. A welcome improvement is the addition of ventilated front seats, a feature that was missing in the original model.
Most of the tech and convenience features remain unchanged. The Atto 3 Ultra continues to offer adaptive LED headlights, roof rails, keyless entry with an NFC key card, push-button start, and single-zone automatic climate control.
The power-adjustable front seats remain, with six-way adjustability for the driver and four-way for the passenger, both upholstered in faux leather. Other highlights include a panoramic sunroof, heated side mirrors, built-in navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Qi wireless charger, and a 360-degree camera system.
Safety remains a strong suit for the Atto 3 Ultra, which comes with seven airbags, including a front centre airbag, and stability control. It also features a comprehensive suite of driver assistance systems, including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane centring assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear collision warning, and a door opening warning.
With a dramatic price drop, interior refinements, and added incentives, the BYD Atto 3 Ultra is now a more compelling option for Malaysian EV buyers. While performance and features remain largely unchanged, its affordability and enhanced value proposition make it a strong contender in the growing EV market
