The Samsung Galaxy Ring has officially launched in Malaysia, arriving a year after its global debut. Designed as a fitness tracker worn on the finger, it measures 2.6mm thick and weighs between 2.3g and 3.3g depending on ring size. Despite its discreet appearance, the AI-powered Galaxy Ring is equipped with an accelerometer, an optical heart rate sensor that also tracks blood oxygen levels, and a skin temperature sensor.
The Galaxy Ring tracks basic activities like walking and running, but its key highlight is sleep tracking. Unlike smartwatches, which users often remove at night to charge, the lightweight Galaxy Ring aims to offer seamless sleep monitoring with minimal discomfort. It connects to the Samsung Health app, which offers sleep coaching, analysis, and tips for improving sleep quality. Snore Detection is also available but requires a nearby phone that is charging.
In addition to health tracking, the Galaxy Ring supports gesture controls, allowing users to double tap with their index or middle finger and thumb to remotely control the camera shutter or disable alarms. Battery capacity ranges between 18mAh and 23.5mAh depending on size, offering up to seven days of usage for larger sizes, and at least four days for smaller ones. The included transparent charging case has a 361mAh battery, taking about 30 minutes to reach 40% charge and around 90 minutes for a full charge.
Built for all-day wear, the Galaxy Ring is rated 10 ATM and IP68 for dust and water resistance, making it suitable for showers and swimming. It is compatible with Android devices but performs best with Samsung Galaxy smartphones. Each ring is made to order for the index or middle finger, with correct orientation necessary for accurate heart rate readings.
The Samsung Galaxy Ring is priced at RM2,099 and comes in ten sizes (5 to 14) with three finishes: Titanium Black, Titanium Silver, and Titanium Gold. However, obtaining it is not as straightforward as picking it off the shelf or adding it to a cart online.
From 9 to 30 April 2025, the Galaxy Ring is available exclusively to selected Galaxy Z and Galaxy S series users who must obtain an invitation code through the Samsung Members app. Eligible devices include the Galaxy S25 to S20 series, S FE models, and the Galaxy Z Flip and Fold series from Flip 3/Fold 3 onwards. Users must visit a Samsung Experience Store to find their ideal fit and colour before completing their order online through the app. Each Galaxy Ring takes around six weeks to be crafted and delivered.
Additionally, Samsung Malaysia and Sunway Medical Centre are offering Galaxy Health Screening packages until 30th June 2025. The first 100 purchasers of selected packages can enjoy a 50% discount and receive a free Galaxy Ring or Galaxy Fit 3.
