The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Is Available Now

by Thora.Hansen

Following a few leaks over the past week, Bethesda has officially announced The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, touching up a 20-year old classic. Though it may be a bit more than just a remaster, as on the graphics side of things, the game’s assets has been completely remade by Virtuos using Unreal Engine 5.

There are other additions as well to, as Bethesda says, meet “certain expectations when it comes to an open world role-playing game”. Like sprinting, something you couldn’t do back in the original Oblivion. But it’s in the smaller things as well, with the publisher saying that combat animations were also redone, with sound and visual effects, as well as hit reactions. The third person perspective in Oblivion Remastered has also remastered, now including a crosshair, and “modernised to compare to Starfield, in terms of playability”.

Finally, as a remaster, the game also comes with the two major story expansions, Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles, the latter being the funniest DLC in all of gaming. There are other DLC that the original got in its life time that’s still locked behind the Digital Deluxe edition though, such as the controversial Horse Armour Pack that led us to the current cosmetic-driven gaming hellscape.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is available now, according to Bethesda, on essentially all platforms minus Nintendo Switch and macOS. It’s not yet listed on the local PSN site, but it’s RM212.95 on Steam, with the Deluxe upgrade being RM42 on top.
