Casio Unveils G-Shock Nano DWN-5600 Ring Watch

by Thora.Hansen

Casio has announced a new ring watch which, this time around, is based on the iconic G-Shock DW-5600 model. Despite its tiny form factor, this version stays true to G-Shock’s rugged identity, combining shock resistance, water resistance and everyday functionality into a piece that fits on your finger.

Roughly one-tenth the size of a regular G-Shock, the Nano DWN-5600 remains a fully functional digital watch. It features a six-segment LCD display capable of showing the time, a stopwatch, an auto calendar, and an LED backlight that flashes for alarms. The three side buttons allow users to switch modes, adjust settings, or activate the LED light, much like its full-sized counterpart.

Casio says the Nano DWN-5600 is the smallest shock-resistant G-Shock ever built, achieved through high-density component mounting and a compact battery design. Impressively, it retains the same 200-metre water resistance as standard G-Shocks, meaning you won’t need to remove it in the shower or during water-based activities.

The ring watch also introduces a few key upgrades over Casio’s previous Nano series. The band now uses a traditional strap design with multiple holes, allowing users to adjust the fit from 48mm to 82mm.

The G-Shock Nano DWN-5600 runs on a replaceable battery with an estimated two-year lifespan, though Casio recommends having replacements done professionally to maintain the watch’s waterproofing. It also ships in a collector-style box complete with a silicone display stand.

The G-Shock Nano DWN-5600 is launching in Japan first, priced at JPY14,300 (~RM450) and available in black, red, and yellow colours. It is also set for an international release across select markets later in November, though Casio has yet to confirm availability in Malaysia.
