Xpeng Unveils X9 Extended-Range Version

by Kris

Xpeng has expanded its line-up with the introduction of the extended-range (EREV) version of the X9, marking the automaker’s first-ever EREV model. According to CNC, the MPV is scheduled to go on sale in China during the fourth quarter of this year.

In terms of design, the X9 EREV retains several styling cues from its fully electric counterpart while incorporating a few notable changes. It continues to feature the signature split headlight setup, paired with a three-section LED daytime running light strip. The front bumper sports a closed grille flanked by vertically oriented, inward-sloping air vents.

At the rear, the MPV showcases a large, frameless rear window and a fastback silhouette. The through-type taillight design integrates an illuminated Xpeng logo for a distinctive and modern look. Additionally, a new exterior colour dubbed “Aurora Green” has been added to the palette.

Inside, the cabin receives subtle updates, including a new steering wheel, a 360-degree camera system, and wood trim accents. It retains the metallic ripple-effect air-conditioning vents, a massive 17.3-inch infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument display, and a 21.4-inch roof-mounted rear monitor.

Performance-wise, the X9 EREV is equipped with Xpeng’s Kunpeng Super Extended-Range system. It features a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine producing 150 PS, paired with a 63.3 kWh battery pack that offers a CLTC-rated electric range of 452 km. Combined with its 60-litre fuel tank, the total driving range is claimed to reach 1,602 km.

At the time of writing, the price of the X9 EREV has yet to be announced. As for global availability, Xpeng remains tight-lipped for now.
