Proton Unveils New Saga MC3 At 47th ASEAN Summit

by Kris

Proton has officially unveiled the all-new Saga MC3 at the ongoing 47th ASEAN Summit, a reveal that quickly caught public attention through social media posts. From the shared images, the sedan appears wrapped in a batik-inspired camouflage, though its overall design details remain clearly visible.

In terms of styling, the Saga MC3 features a completely redesigned front fascia, highlighted by LED projector headlamps paired with C-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs). These DRLs are seamlessly connected by Proton’s signature Ethereal Bow, now integrated into a full-width concave grille. The grille itself sports an array of black pin inserts and a prominent chrome upper strip.

At the rear, the sedan comes with full-width LED taillights that are seamlessly connected by a light bar bearing the Proton script. The sculpted bumper, featuring a diffuser-like lower section and subtle chrome accents, enhances its sporty appeal.

Inside, the Saga MC3 adopts a sleek and minimalist dashboard layout, featuring a large freestanding touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. The interior is further enhanced with a multifunction flat-bottom steering wheel, refined air vents, and a new gear lever design.

Performance-wise, Paultan.org reports that the new Saga is expected to debut with a 1.5-litre inline-four petrol engine. It is also expected that the powertrain will be paired with a conventional automatic transmission on the Standard and Executive variants, while the top-spec Premium model will feature a CVT instead.

According to Proton, the Saga MC3 is built on the same AMA platform as its previous models. However, it has been upgraded, and the Saga MC3 is said to feature an ADAS safety system for the first time. At the time of writing, these are the only details available about the car. More information is expected soon, as the car is expected to be launched by the end of this year.
