Nintendo Has A Dedicated News App For Its Games

by Thora.Hansen

Beyond making games software and hardware, Nintendo has been delving into some other more esoteric endeavours. The company earlier announced its own music streaming app specifically for the soundtrack of its many games. Now, there is Nintendo Today, which is the dedicated news app for the company’s games.

To some degree, it is a little bit more than just for news. As the company explains, the app “functions like a daily calendar”, delivering a variety of content including upcoming events, latest news, and other content related to the company’s games and characters. The idea is building around its Direct streams, delivering info directly to its fans.

Following the Switch 2 Direct on 2 April, news about the upcoming console will also be delivered to the app “daily”. Though one doubts that there will be newsworthy, well, news about it coming out every single day. Though that’s probably where all the other content comes in, to pad the calendar.

Nintendo Today is available on both Android and iOS, and usable by anyone with a Nintendo account. Or so the company says, but unfortunately we appear to have been region-locked out of downloading the app on either platform.
