Last month, Insta360 teased its upcoming gimbal camera lineup, which comprises the Luna Pro and the Luna Ultra. Conceived as the brand’s answer to DJI’s Osmo Pocket series, the devices are slated to debut before the end of next month. While the company has only offered a few details on the upcoming products, leaksters have been steadily filling in the blanks. This time, a series of X posts by seasoned tipster Igor Bogdanov has revealed the specifications of the Ultra model.
As per these posts, the Insta360 Luna Ultra will sport two cameras with Leica Summicron lenses. This part probably isn’t particularly surprising, since the company confirmed this last month. However, the leak does offer quite a bit more information on the imaging setup. For starters, the main shooter may feature a 20mm equivalent wide-angle lens. This lens will apparently offer an f/1.8 aperture and a 155-degree FOV.

Meanwhile, the second lens is reportedly a 120mm equivalent telephoto unit capable of up to 6x optical zoom. Overall, the device should offer 1x, 2x, 3x, 6x, and 12x zoom steps. Based on this information, the 2x zoom will probably be an in-sensor crop from the main snapper. On the other hand, the 12x zoom could rely on an in-sensor crop from the telephoto lens.
As for the imaging capabilities, the leak claims the device’s 50MP 1-inch CMOS sensor can capture 37MP stills. On the videography end, the gimbal camera will allegedly be able to record 8K footage at 30fps with a 120Mbps bitrate. Beyond that, an AI chip will handle low-light processing. Additionally, the device could include support for 10-bit I-Log, Dolby Vision, and Gamma Log.
For stabilisation, the Ultra Luna will likely use a mechanical 3-axis gimbal, paired with the company’s 6-axis FlowState gyroscope. The brand’s Deep Track AI will also reportedly be on board, as well as creative modes like Dolly Zoom, Barrel Roll, and Bullet Time. Furthermore, the device may feature 48kHz 32-bit audio and support the Insta360 Mic Pro. Connectivity features should include WiFi 6, Bluetooth, and USB-C.
One more highlight is the OLED touchscreen display, which will be detachable. Aside from that, the display will be able to function as a remote control. This should allow users to compose and frame shots from a distance.
Of course, these leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, since the Luna Ultra has not been released yet. At the moment, Insta360 has not disclosed a specific launch date for the device and its sibling.
